Skincare Fails, My advice

I’ve been fully committed to a good skincare routine for 7 years now. I wanted to share some skincare fails and some advice throughout my journey.
Things I learnt the hard way.
Patch testing.
When a skincare label recommends a patch test before use, trust me, you should follow this advice. I confess that I used to be impatient. I desired quick results and believed that bypassing a patch test would hasten the process. It does not.
I've made the same mistake and suffered a severe reaction to a few products I tried. I woke up the next day with red, sore skin.
Now, I patiently patch test and gradually introduce new products into my skincare routine.
Using too much product.
It's something that's quite simple to do! I once believed that applying more moisturiser would better hydrate my skin. However, if you're using the correct type of moisturiser for your skin, a thin, even layer is sufficient. Applying too much can block your pores and might lead to pilling.
Instead, focus on understanding your skin's needs. Examine the ingredients in a moisturiser and how they could benefit your skin. If you need extra hydration, consider adding a hydrating toner, serum, or even using a sheet mask before your skincare routine.
Trends.
The must haves on the market! I used to absolutely adore trying out a new product or jumping on the latest skincare trend. While it's exciting, it can end up disrupting your skincare routine and affecting your skin. Do you really need that newly launched product with completely different ingredients from what you're currently using? Just because it's gone viral and seems effective for everyone else doesn't mean it will work for you. Remember, your skin is unique and may not respond the same way as others. This habit was costing me a lot of money and wasting many products. I recall spending over £250 a month on skincare that didn't suit me. Fortunately, brands now gift me products to try, and I'm grateful for that. I always provide my honest opinion on everything I use.
Makeup trends… Now that's something I'm fully on board with!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on skincare fails. Do you agree with me? What is that one skincare fail you had?
